Meeting Began: 20.35

Chairperson: Gordon Pierce.

The minutes of the last monthly meeting held 5th. October 2009 were read and accepted as an accurate record of proceedings.

Matters Arising: There were no matters arising from the October minutes.

Correspondence: BC Annual Report 2009 – noted.
Request from BC for 2010 affiliation fee. Agreed to re-affiliate at a cost of £63.00

Treasurers Report: Peter Crutchley informed the meeting that outgoings through October had been £50.00 for affiliations to CTT, Merseyside Ladies and Liverpool TT Association.

Balance at the bank was £1993.84.

Peter Crutchley said that Terry Galvin, our auditor, had audited the accounts for 2008-2009.

Racing Report: Two riders; Roy Sumner and Joe Williams had raced in Majorca. Joe had finished in the top 20 and was quite pleased given the competition. Unfortunately Roy had crashed but told the meeting that it had been ‘quite an experience’. Temperature in Majorca had been 25C.

The Club Hill Climb Championship had been incorporated into the Wrexham Hill Climb on the Horse Shoe Pass. Club Championship was won by new member Kevin Larmer in 11.42secs. Other Club riders who competed in the hill climb Championship were Chris Gilmore, Gary Doolan, Mike Stanley, Terry Hughes and Sam Bakewell. Sam was 3rd.fastest junior in the Wrexham Open Hill Climb. Full, detailed results can be found on the CTT website.

Andy Wilkinson, Roy Sumner and Terry Hughes along with Ian Clarke received awards at the Liverpool TT Association Prize Presentation.

Social Committee Report: Craig Tabiner told the meeting that the Club Dinner would be at The Grange 5th. February 2010.

The Christmas Lunch had been booked at the Candle Factory 13th. December 2009.
Club Capt. Report: Roy Sumner announced that the Runs List was on the website and that the Club Weekend had been postponed to February 2010.

Safety Report: Gary Doolan told the meeting that the driver in the ‘incident’ with the Club is to be charged with offences mainly concerning insurance but that he will get a driving ban.

Andy Wilkinson said that Keith Bingham, taking up the incident in Cycling, had highlighted the incident and shown that the police could be moved to take action when cyclists are endangered. The important thing for cyclists to do is get the registration of cars of drivers who are careless or dangerous and report them.

There had been an incident near Two Mills, Wednesday 28th. October 2009 when two cyclists from Birkenhead NE had been knocked down. The woman in the couple was still in a ‘high dependency unit’ at Duchess of Chester and her partner had been moved to Leyton Hospital, his injuries being less, though still, serious.

On a lighter (?) note George O’Brien had crashed into a plant pot at the Ice Cream Farm, perhaps, only suffering indignity?

New Members: Tony Darcy was welcomed into membership of the Club.

Membership Tsar: Terry Hughes said we had 47 paid up members to date including Dave Banks who was returning to membership after many years.

Club Kit: Craig Tabiner told the meeting that the next batch of Club clothing would be with us by the third week of November 2009.

AOB: The Membership Tsar; Terry Hughes said that if we wanted to attract members we needed to have two runs an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ run, the ‘B’ run turning short but committed to doing so at the start of the run.

Mike Wright pointed out that ‘turning short’ had always been a characteristic of Sunlight runs and the issue was the speed of Club runs.

Roy Sumner said that he always tried to keep the speed ‘steady’ for the early part of the run so that everyone could get a ride.

Mike Wright said he would produce a ‘B’ runs list based on but not necessarily the same every week as the ‘A’ run and hoped that when he was unable to attend a Club run that someone would take over leadership of the ‘B’ run.

Roy Sumner raised the issue of mudguards emphasising that they must have an effective tail on the rear mudguard to protect riders on the wheel in front of them.

Gordon Pierce raised an issue concerning a Club member and a café franchise holder. After some discussion it was recognised that since the complainant hadn’t contacted the Club it was not a matter to be discussed at a business meeting of the Club.

The issue of moving the Club meeting to ‘The Pollards’ was raised and a proposition made that from January 2010 we hold our monthly meetings there.
Proposed: Craig Tabiner.
Seconded: Gary Doolan.
The proposition was carried without opposition.

Ian Clarke reported that eight members of the Club had taken part in a session at the Velodrome in Manchester and that further sessions were open to them on 6th. and 27th. December 2009 as well as sessions in January and February 2010.

The Meeting closed 21.30
